Studio/Production Courses

Area I: 40 credits (minimum)
Required courses

Freshman Year:

Photography & Imaging Digital (offered fall and spring)
Photography & Imaging Analog (offered fall and spring)
Visual Thinking (offered spring)

Sophomore/Junior Year:

Photography & Imaging Multimedia (offered fall and spring)
Screen-based Projects (optional)

Senior Year:

Senior Directed Projects (offered fall)

Additional courses must be taken to bring cumulative points to a minimum of 40.

Critical Studies

Area II: 24 credits (minimum)
Required courses

Freshman Year:

Culture, History, Imaging & Photography Studies (offered fall)

Sophomore Year:

The Social History of Photography (offered fall)
The Aesthetic History of Photography-recommended (offered spring)

Junior/Senior Year:

Additional critical studies courses to bring cumulative points to a minimum of 24.

Liberal Arts Classes

Area III: 44 credits (minimum)
Required courses

Freshman Year:

Writing the Essay: Art and the World (offered fall)
Writing the Essay: The World through Through Art (offered spring)

Soph/Jr/Sr Years:

Language and Literature: 4-8 points
1 Literature or 2 semesters of the same language
Humanities: 4 points
1 Art History course in the Fine Arts Dept. (History of Western Art 2 is highly recommended)
Social Science: 4 points
1 course (i.e. Anthropology, Economics, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, etc.)
Natural Sciences/Mathematics: 4 points
1 course (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Compuer Science, etc.)

Additional Liberal Arts from any of the above to bring cumulative points to a minimum of 44.

Electives

Area IV: Credits to bring cumulative total to 128 points.
