A New Yorker, by way of Ghana, West Africa, Derrick earned an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute (2000) and BA, BS in Fine Art and Philosophy from Georgetown University (1995). He was assistant to the chairperson at the Media Arts Department, Pratt Institute from 2001-2007. Derrick is a Lower Manhattan-based painter, working primarily in oils on sculptural, expressionist cityscapes. He works as a mentor with the Moriah Institute’s Rites of Passage Program, and directs Maverist, a business that combines activism and graphic design into philanthropic projects.
