Timothy Greenfield-Sanders photographed 13 soldiers injured in Iraq as part of HBO's upcoming documentary, "Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq". The documentary surveys the physical and emotional cost of war through soldiers' memories of the day in Iraq when they survived near-fatal wounds. In a war that has left 22,000 wounded, with more than half the injuries too severe to permit a return to active military service, the documentary looks at the advances in military medicine that allow soldiers to return home and celebrate what they call their "alive day." Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' portraits are in over twenty-five museum collections, including 700 art-world images in both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He is a contributing photographer at Vanity Fair and his photographs appear regularly in publications worldwide. The documentary will be screened on November 8th as part of the Tisch Days of Community.
