Prerequisite: Photography & Imaging II, Photography II for Nonmajors, or equivalent.
This course will explore a variety of historical, cultural and artistic perspectives on the portrait through lectures, museum visits, student presentations, and image making. We will look at how ideas during specific time periods affect the concepts related to portraiture and the construction of the self. For the final project, the student will use New York City as well as popular culture and personal interests to produce a series of photographic portraits.
