H82.0004 Studio 4 Credits
Dissemination of photo-based imagery is becoming more and more screen-based, and a screen is just as likely to be the mode of presentation as paper. This course will explore screen and time-based media, image and sound, web presentation, projection, installation as they relate to photo-based practice. Digital audio recording and editing, slide show sequencing and editing, basic html and creating Web slide shows will be taught. A wide variety of work by artists, filmmakers, and sound artists will be introduced through class presentations, research, discussion, and exhibition visits. Exhibition strategies will also be discussed and explored. Students will work on a few project-based assignments; create a slide show with audio for midterm, and produce a final project in any screen-based form (slide show, projected installation, computer screen, PDAs, cell phones, etc.) As with other Photography & Imaging studio courses, students are expected to create work on an ongoing basis for their projects and actively participate in critiques and class discussions.
